Automatic scaling and high performance for your cloud databases
Amazon Aurora is AWS's MySQL- and PostgreSQL-compatible relational database. In its Serverless configuration, it scales on its own based on your application's demand.
Aurora Serverless starts up, adjusts and scales down capacity based on your application, with no instances for you to manage. It's ideal for intermittent or unpredictable workloads, where manual management eats up time and wastes resources.
Aurora combines the performance and availability of commercial databases with the simplicity and cost of open-source databases. According to AWS, it's up to 5x faster than standard MySQL and 3x faster than standard PostgreSQL.
Storage is split into blocks replicated six ways across three Availability Zones, with automatic repair and transactional consistency.
How it works
- Create a database endpoint
- Optionally set your capacity range
- Connect your applications
- Pay by the second only for the capacity you use
Serverless
Capacity adjusts automatically, even down to zero for idle environments, depending on the version.
High availability
Replicas and fast failover across Availability Zones.
Compatible
Use the MySQL and PostgreSQL tools and drivers you already know.
